From PFC to SGT, 943 was 1 of 2 birds that I Crewed bring s Crew Chief at 3/17 Cavalry Black Jack Troop. I had my name painted on her nose and took very very good care of her! It was rare if I wasn't flying in one of our 8 birds 3 or 4 times a week but being assigned to a particular aircraft makes you show favoritism especially when your making out the flights for the day. In 943 I've flown in her and done a freewheeling unit test where it failed in flight and we dropped like a rock. So, in case it was a fluke me and the MTP decided to test it again and sure enough... it failed again! So, we landed and spend the next few days removing and replacing it, then flying her again. It's a strange feeling when you go to do an auto rotation and the blades slow down with the engine... suddenly you have no lift. I've got some pictures of 943 around somewhere. 947 was my other bird I was assigned.
