This fine lady was my pride and joy for 6 straight years at Eglin AFB (60th AMU, 33rd FW) from Oct 2003 until Late Summer of 2009 around the time we sent her off to New Orleans. I started my Air Force career as the Assistant Dedicated Crew Chief working on A8550, among all the others in the 33FW (some of which are in AMARC too). I eventually became the Dedicated Crew Chief once I made E-5. The other guys that were assigned to it with me are all great mechanics and friends. We competed in competitions between crew chiefs a good few times because she was just that good. She flew very well most of the time. Been to a lot of different locations with her, to include Elmendorf AFB, Nellis AFB, Holloman AFB, Tyndall AFB and Key West NAS, and others too.

I'd love to see this bird intact as a static or in use long after I retire some day but, we'll see. It truly was heartbreaking when I heard that she was sent to the boneyard instead of continuing the fight for homeland security with the Guard/Reserve. If I remember any cool stories about this aircraft I'll be sure to post. Take good care of this piece of airpower. I've spent countless hours with her and loved every minute of it.
