I was stationed at Holloman AFB in New Mexico, from 1977 thru 1980, assigned to the 49th, Iron Knights 9TH TAC FTR SQDN.I received this aircraft directly from the factory and was her first Crew Chief. She was a great flyer and I was so proud to work on her. We became the Hangar Queen early on when a ground support tech. had drove off with the age equipment still hooked to the aircraft and tore out the external power receptacle. The repairs took quite a while since the aircraft was new and McDonnell Douglas didn't have the repairs for the shielded wiring in their technical manuals. After several months and many parts removed from her, our Squadron Commander gave the orders to stop taking parts and I was given the green light to put her back together.I did this with the help of my assistants Hipkins and Stoddard. She flew flawlessly, and continued to do so. We did many Red Flag operations thru the years and I was awarded Crew Chief of the month, and flew several times in our F-15B. I would love to come on down and see her if at all possible.I'm up the road in Phoenix. Thank you for letting me share my story with you. regards, Sergeant Douglas Budner
