I was the crew chief on that jet from 1982-1985 and yes that missle was shot at william tell 1982 When i received that plane from 1st TAC it needed a total rebuild, that was in may1982.Four months later it was the lead plane and we won the maintenance trophy. I feel sad its in the 'BONEYARD'.I loved that jet,RIP.

The picture of the AIM-7 shot is great, I believe it is was taken at the William Tell comp. the umbilicle for the missile is at full extension and the rocketmotor is just starting. I Saw the pict. in a hardback book on fighters years ago, would love to have it now. By the way, I loaded the missile. Load Toads forever, 462...

This a/c was stationed with the 48th FIS @ Langley. When we rec'v it from 1st TAC it was a junk. After alot of work she was one of the squadrons best fighter. There's a great picture of 76-0119 shooting an aim 7 over the gulf of mexico and downing a F102. At one commanders call they showed the hud film of the F-102 being shot down.
