I was the first crew chief of this aircraft when it was delivered to the 8th TFS Black Sheep, 49th TFW at Holloman AFB, NM in 1977 and I stayed with it until my separation in May 1980. We went on every TDY that came up and the aircraft was a reliable performer. At first we weren't allowed to paint our rank and names on the nose below the windscreen but had it done while I was A1C. I think I even have photos of it as well. I remember that I had to replace the right vertical formation light bulb every 2 months like clockwork but could never find out why it failed with such exact frequentcy.
