I was just a 19 year old kid stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB N. C. ( 4TFW, 335 TFS) when I was assigned to be the Assistant Crew Chief on this Aircraft in 1978. I became the Crew-chief in 1979 to August 1980 pcs to England for three year. I returned to Seymour Johnson in 1983, by then I believe this aircraft was shipped out to Germany. I recognize a lot of these E models from Seymour Johnson originally we had three fighter squadrons 334th, 335th and 336th. In 1981 or 1982 they added the 337th TFS. When I returned to Seymour I was in the EMS doing overhaul maintenance on the phantom. I have a picture of QF 72-1485 on my I pad right now. Can someone tell me what is going on with this jet now, or how it got to California?
