In 1974-75 I was assigned to the 14th TRS,26th TRW at Udorn RTAFB, Thailand. I was the pilot assigned to aircraft 68-0606. Since the VietNam war was over and all SE Asia operations were winding down, we began the process of closing the 14th TRS in the spring of 1975. I flew 68-0606 back to the US, leaving Udorn RTAFB on July 7th and arriving at Bergstrom AFB, Austin Tx. on July 13th. The ferry flight was under the direction of the 2nd Air Delivery Group, and was conducted in three legs with stops at Anderson AFB, Guam and Hickam AFB, Hawaii. We traveled in packs of 6 RF-4's supported by 4 KC135 tankers. One of my best memories of this trip was the flawless performance of 68-0606. I logged 21.9 hours of flight time on the trip and landed at Bergstrom AFB without a single maintenance discrepancy I lost track of 68-0606 after that trip until I rediscovered her at the AMARC in 2012.

RF-4C # 68-0606: I have one grainy photo of this bird sitting on the flightline at Boise.

I used to work on this one when I was at Bergstrom AFB. Tx. It had a problem with the fire detection system for about a year. Every time it took off the fire and overheat lamps would light. This was during the 1980's. I left the service before the base was shut down and never knew what happened to it until now.
