I was the assistant dedicated crew chief on this aircraft...68-0 509 from 1982 to 1984. I was part of A flt, 512 AMU. I was a young 18 year old A1C reporting to work on fighter jets less than 6 months after graduating high school. I absolutely loved my 2 years at Ramstein. I didn't know then how hard we were working to keep them flying. Most had close to 5,000 hours on them but they got the job done. 509 was a terrific jet. It flew very well as compared to some of the Jets we had.
