I arrived @ Cannon AFB in March 1986, and was assigned as crewdawg on this bird, until my departure in Sept 1989. 176 was an unremarkeable D model, had no incidents, and no obvious damage from previous incidents. Around 1988, some dufus in Quality assurance went around writing up tailhook shoes for excessive wear, so it should be sporting a relatively shiny new tailhook, I kept the old one and have it hanging up in my workshop, nice souvenier from my anteater days.
