This aircraft was assigned to the 63 TFS at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL in the late 70's along with its sister ship 66-7470. I was a jet engine mechanic on this jet and I also received an incentive flight in it in 1979 with pilot Captain Dave Bina. I still have the pictures and my certificate & pin. I'm not positive but I believe this aircraft spent its final flying years with the ANG in New Jersey because that's where most of our jets went when we started to get F-16s in 1981. I don't remember much about this jet but I think it was a decent flyer, but maybe not that great as it hasn't been selected for target use. I am of the understanding that when they select A/C for target missions, they review the A/C history pretty thoroughly and if they had issues, they aren't selected but I am not absolutely certain about this. But at least it hasn't been scrapped yet. I noticed a lot of familiar tail numbers here but I can't remember for certain about any other A/C but these two.
