I was the Dedicated Crew Chief of this aircraft from 1979 thru 1983. The aircraft was at Shaw AFB SC. It was part of the 16th TRS of the 363 TRW. This aircraft experianced a couple of "firsts". It was the first one in our squadron to have the modification to the nose wheel steering completed, this changed the control from electric to mechanical. I remember doing this modification and we had problems with the cables breaking, we found that there was a problem with the modification and we had to redesign it, and it became the prototype for the correction to the modification of all the aircraft. 66-0410 also was the first one to have the "smokeless" engines installed in our squadron. I had a great time as a crew chief while I was in the Air Force. I would like to see if I could get a picture of the aircraft in storage.
