I had the opportunity to fly this airplane on its last assignment with our unit, the 22nd Operations Group, at March AFB. We closed down our Companion Trainer Program in 1993. We had a final send off party and 8228 was the star. We spoke with you AMARC folks and were authorized to allow all the folks in the unit to sign the aircraft. We all signed on the rudder. I was happy to have my name on the canopy rail of 8228. We had a great unit with a lot of comraderie. It was a sad day, when the aircraft left for AMARC. The pilot dispatched to fly her to Davis Monthan graced us with one final pass before disappearing into Air Force history.
