I was the Crew Chief on this aircraft from Mar. 1969 to July 1970. At CCK Taiwan.
I flew many Viet Nam inputs to Cam Rahn Bay during that time. Only one time in all of my inputs did it ever break down (two prop changes) in 1970. I also went with it to Japan several times, Korea, Cubi Point P. I., Bangkok Thailand,Okinaw a, Ubon Thailand plus it also made a trip to Australia and Guam hauling President Nixon's vehicle. I couldn't go with it then because I didn't have a passport. During my time with this bird at CCK Taiwan, it was the 7th best flying aircraft out of 52 C-130's stationed there. Many years later I connected with a Loadmaster at Little Rock Ark. and have pictures of it providing relief during Hurricane Katrina and have pictures of it the day it was delivered to AMARC. This Aircraft has been an important part of my life and I would hate to see it scrapped.
Thanks for listening,
Ken Carlson
