While stationed at NAS Oceana from 1999-2002, as a Hydraulic Mech I helped maintain this and all other VF-2 F14D. On board USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64), these planes were part of 10,000 trap record set during the summer 2001 patrol. On Sep 11 2001 these birds were two days out of Pearl Harbor enroute to San Diego. Lots of history made by these war birds. Which I could see them one last time.
