I was the crew chief on this a/c YW 12 (154827) during the evacuation of Saigon Apr 29, 1975. We were detached from HMM 165 to the USS Hancock to augment their helo contingent. Captain William Nystul and Lt. Shea , the last Marine pilots killed , were the scheduled pilots for the evacuation, a last minute flight schedule change put them in YT 12. Lt. Joe Rogish was the pilot of Yw 12 during the evacuation. We put the a/c in the ocean off the stern of the USS Blueridge when they wouldn't clear the deck. I'm glad to see she survived !
