I spent over 1000 hours as a Crew Chief SAR/VertRep in the CH-46. I was stationed at NASNI and was attached to HC-3 Packrats. I am a plank owner of HC-5 which was a a fleet replacement squadron forward deployed to Gaum. Have allot of great memories of my time in this squadron and the detachment we deployed to Gaum. HC-3 held the record for the most number of hours without incident in these aircraft. The only wreck that happened while I was in, happened with HC-11 and if I remember correctly the whole aircraft and crew were lost on a training mission off the coast of San Diego.

I'D LIKE TO SAY THE 46 WAS A VERY RELIABLE AIRCRAFT. I WORKED ON NUMEROUS H-46 AIRCRAFT WITH OVER 10 YEARS IN HC-6 AND A PLANK OWNER OF HC-8. I WAS REALLY SHOCKED TO SEE THEM BEING RETIRED. I STILL HAVE MY MEMORIES.
