Lockheed U-2S Dragon Lady Retirement
The full U-2S fleet retirement is slated for fiscal year 2026 (which runs from October 2025 to September 2026), but Congress has intervened to slow the process. In the FY2026 Defense Appropriations Bill, lawmakers prohibited the divestment of more than eight U-2s, allocating $55 million for ongoing maintenance to extend the program's life potentially into FY2027.U.S. Military Aircraft Changes - Fiscal Year 2026
The information presented on this page has been extracted from the FY 2026 Force Structure Changes document which was submitted for Congressional approval. This document, drafted in August 2025, puts forward a proposed list of aircraft which the DoW wishes to reduce or retire in the coming year. AMARG Area Movements
About the AMARG Area Movements Listing
A list of Location Movements is available for each new inventory when it is published on this website. It is derived by comparing AMARG aircraft locations recorded on a new inventory against those released on the previous one. It should be remembered that there will probably be many movements which occur during the period inbetween inventory releases which will not be detectable using this method, only one location is available for each aircraft on each inventory.
Examples of what this listing can show is when aircraft have been moved to the reclamation area from long term Type 1000 storage, the progress through a scheduled re-preservation process and the movement from long term storage to maintenance areas prior to being regenerated.
Trending Aircraft Types
Graphical representations in graph format are available which focus on aircraft types that have recently been on the move at AMARG. This could either be a significant number of the type arriving, or a significant number leaving the inventory. These graphs are useful when gaining an understanding of the rate of change of numbers being stored at AMARG. The aircraft types available will be changed as and when movement dynamics change so make sure you check it out this section often.
