160017 Lockheed KC-130R Hercules on the AMARC Arrivals Ramp shortly after it''s retirement from Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152), the "Sumos", based at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The unit has been converting over to the new KC-130J Hercules and retiring it''s fleet of KC-130F and KC-130R aircraft. Although very similar to older models in it's outward appearance the KC-130J is a redesigned, start-of-the-art aircraft with glass cockpit, advanced navigation systems with dual embedded Global Positioning System, higher power turboprop engines and more efficient, all-composite, six-bladed propellers.
